Another week, two more lopsided victories for Connecticut. The Huskies are inching towards their own record of 70 straight victories after blowouts of number 11 West Virginia and Louisville. The only team to somewhat solve (read not be humiliated) Geno Auriemma’s squad is Stanford, who remains second. Nebraska, still undefeated, moves past Notre Dame into third while the Fighting Irish dip one spot as Tennessee holds serve in fifth.
It was a tough week for long-time ACC stalwarts Duke and North Carolina, who went a combined 0-3 and fell six and eleven spots, respectively. The Big-12 remains the most competitive conference at the top, with all due respect to Connecticut, and placed seven teams in the top-20.
Over in the SEC, Georgia took a bad home loss to rising South Carolina after beating LSU, who lost a triple-overtime heartbreaker to drop out of the top-25.
The only new entry in this week’s rankings is TCU, who humbled a solid BYU team and blew out Air Force.
