Early reports, say that Florida quarterback Tim Tebow struggled with his mechanics in practice Monday at the Senior Bowl. Notably he fumbled his first snap from center. Apt commentaors have put Tebow’s fumble count Monday at between five and six. And still other internet pundits have said, his throwing motion is, odd.
In the words of Allen Iverson, ‘We’re talking about practice”
Everyone is looking for these things and the spotlight shines brighter on him than any other player. The NFL Network needs a storyline this week as well.
The network is broadcasting the practices this week, so most of America’s hardcore football junkies have tuned in and chimed in on the web. Even an ESPN talking head/writer has shared his initial opinion.
For those of you with jobs or without access to the NFL network, stud wide receiver Mardy Gilyard out of Cincinnati dropped a few passes today. No Big deal, right?
The spotlight will continue to shine bright on Tebow. No matter what shows up on TV, NFL general managers may see a different Tebow in individual workouts, or even as the week progresses.
Perhaps by the time the NFL’s combine comes around next month in Indianapolis, Tebow will have shaken the nerves.
It’s not like Tebow to crack under pressure which would lead many to believe he just doesn’t have the skills to be an NFL quarterback. But if his only downfall is taking snaps under center, then Tebow has nothing to worry about. His throwing motion? Remember Ryan Leaf? Great throwing motion.
The center-quarterback exchange can be learned and he can learn to drop back, Tebow’s pretty good with his feet.
With Tebow it’s time to separate fact from fiction: If Tebow can play in the NFL, plenty of teams will take notice, and those teams would like nothing better than public perception to discourage other teams from drafting him early. If he can’t we won’t find out at least until next August.
