Ramirez benched for lack of hustle

After being benched by manager Fredi Gonzalez  for not chasing a ball he booted off his left foot, Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez told the Palm Beach Post "It's his team. He can do whatever he [expletive] wants."

Ramirez went down in pain after the error, which could be the reason why he didn't go after the ball. But his reputation procedes him. ""Whether he's hurt or not hurt or whatever it was, we felt the effort wasn't there that we wanted."

When asked if Gonzalez mistook an injury for lack of hustle Ramirez said, "That’s OK. He doesn’t understand that. He never played in the big leagues.”

I support Ramirez 100%. The other side of this coin is when players make phoney and unnecessary dives and flops for flyballs just to the shows WEB GEMS or PREMIER PLAYS OF THE DAY. Do they have to apologize to their teammates for the disgraceful way that they are playing the game. C'mon. You may want to read what I think is a very good article about this. I wrote it. It's at:
