Joe Johnson scored 25 points and dished out eight assists as the Atlanta Hawks gave the Los Angeles Lakers their second straight loss Wednesday night. The Hawks benched scored 59 points in the 109-92 victory. Kobe Bryant said after the game the Lakers struggles were a matter of defense. Last season the Lakers were plauged by defensive lapses but were able to overcome them to win the title, this season with the addition of Ron Artest those problems seemed to be long gone but not so. Bryant led all Lakers with 28 points in the loss. The loss drops the Lakers to 56-21 overall and just four games ahead of the Dallas Mavericks for first place in the Western Conference. Atlanta moves to 48-26, one and a half games ahead of the Boston Celtics for third place in Eastern Conference. The Lakers return to action Friday at 7:30 PT time when they host the Utah Jazz. The Hawks travel to Cleveland to play the Cavs Friday night at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
