Everytime the New York Mets hit a homerun at Citi Field in Flushing, New York the famous Big Apple lights up. Last season that apple got plenty of rest.
The New York Mets hit fewer round-trippers than any team in baseball in 2009, and it’s about time somebody did something about it. Well the Mets are, beginning with the 2010 season, the Center Field wall at Citi Field will be lowered in hopes to boost their offensive production.
The top padding of the centerfield wall in front of the Big Apple will be removed, and the height of that wall will go from 16 to eight feet, the New York Daily News reports.
The Mets weren’t a homerun hitting team on the road either last season, they hit the fewest of any team in baseball at away ballparks with 46.

Has it occurred to anyone in Mets management that other teams have home run hitters as well; in fact, more of them than the Mets do? Expected to see plenty of homers fly off the bats of visiting teams at Citi Field.
