Steve Sticker shot a five-under 66 Friday to move past Paul Goydos for the 36-hold lead at the John Deere Classic.
After Stricker shot 60 Thursday, he has set a new 36-hole tournament record at 16-under, 126.
Goydos is just one stroke behind Stricker. Three players are T3 at 11-under.
"We had perfect conditions today," said Stricker. "The greens were perfect, smooth. We're starting to get a little bit of bounce in the fairways in certain spots, so it's just going to, I think, get a little bit better each and every day."
The 36-hole cut came at 4-under 138 with 74 players making it to the weekend.
Goydos, who shot just the fourth score of 59 in PGA Tour history on Thursday, has a 36-hole score of 127, his career best for the opening two rounds of a PGA Tour event.
U.S. Television coverage of the third-round begins at 3 p.m. ET on CBS
