Former New York Giants defensive linemen Lawrence Taylor has been charged with raping a 15-year-old girl according to Journal News of the Lower Hudso Valley. According to the report, the alleged victim was a runaway from New York City who was under the control of a pimp.

According to the report the alleged victim was beaten during the attack.

"She got punched in the face. We're not sure who did it," said an officer with the Ramapo, New York Police Department.

Taylor was arrested at a Hotel in Montebello, New York and is being held in custody in Ramapo town jail. Police plan a news conference later Thursday to provide further details.

Taylor was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999.

While Taylor is no longer a part of the NFL, the latest news, whether Taylor is guilty or not, further damages the reputation of the NFL as a league that fosters violent sex addicted drug athletes with too much money. While the NFL cannot be held responsible for the behavior of its former players, their reputation can be damaged by it.
