The Lakers have extended the contract of forward Pau Gasol, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times. Gasol is still owed $34.3 million on his current contract which runs through 2011. According to the report, the extension is for three years for a total of $64.7 million or $21.5 million per year.
Kobe Bryant who is currently making about $24 million per year is still in negotiations with the Lakers on a three-year contract extension, which could be worth up to $30 million per year.
“Generally speaking, we’d love to have both players finish their careers as a Laker,” Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said.
