Former NBA player Jayson Williams will be required to wear an alcohol monitor, known as the Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor, which monitors perspiration for alcohol content, the Newark Star-Ledger reported Monday.
On Jan 5, 2010 Williams was charged with driving while intoxicated by New York City Police. Williams crashed his Mercedes SUV into a tree around 3:15 a.m. in the Manhattan area and was transported to Bellevue Hospital.
Earlier this month Williams pled guilty to aggravated assault in connection with a 2002 death of a limousine driver, Costas “Gus” Christofi. During the 2002 shooting incident, Williams was said to be drinking alcohol.
Williams suffered cuts to his face and a small fracture to a bone in his neck according to the AP.Williams refused to submit to a breathalyzer test, but police obtained a warrant to test his blood while he was hospitalized and he was subsequently charged with DWI.
