Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Mike Smith is having players write written evaluations of themseleves.

“Some of our assistant coaches actually had our players write down what they felt they needed to get better at and what their strengths and weaknesses are. We interact with one another because I think it’s important that we have an idea of how they feel about their abilities. They also have an idea about how we feel about theirs. It’s just something that helps everybody have a better comfort level with one another.”

Tampa Bay Buccaneers injury update from Head Coach Raheem Morris:

“Antonio Bryant with a mild knee, he will be back, he is just day to day. Just precautionary for him. I have Kellen Winslow with a mild ankle strain. He got that this morning on the team run and he will be day to day as it is just a mild ankle. Joel Filani has a hamstring strain. Angelo Crowell has a hamstring strain”

Detroit Lions tight ends Brandon Pettigrew (quadriceps) and Casey FitzSimmons (ankle sprain) missed Monday’s training camp practice with injuries. Neither injury is believed to be serious

Cincinnati  Bengals starting tight end left practice with what some were calling a serious Achilles injury. Kelly left the facility in a van with an ice bag strapped to his left foot.  Quarterback Carson Palmer said a loss of Kelly for the season would be “terrible”

“You know, that’s part of it. All of us are pretty competitive guys and sometimes things may get taken the wrong way or some guys maybe just lose their temper. It happens. That’s football. It’s been happening since junior high and it’s going to continue to happen. As long as nobody gets hurt, it’s a good thing,” Quarterback Kellen Clemens said after Monday’s practice.

Meanwhile rookie QB Mark Sanchez is getting some work in with the first team.

“That means the world to me. You want it to happen as much as possible. I’m right in Schotty’s hip pocket and right next to Kellen as he’s calling the plays in the huddle and getting as close to taking those first-team reps as possible. As soon as they come my way, that’s when you really need to make a move in this whole thing,” Sanchez said Monday.

Tampa Bay’s Kellen Winslow Jr. has been called out by Morris for being out of shape. Winslow admitted that he needs to re-acclimate to the heat and recall his days of August practice in college at “The U.” via  The Bleacher Report

Miami Dolphins CB Will Allen picked of Pennington pass intended for Anthony Fasano. Nobody really should test Allen during training camp. Allen is dominant. New Jersey Nets Head Coach Lawrence Frank attended Sunday’s practice as a guest of Bill Parcells. via South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com.

Detroit Lions DT Grady Jackson (Active Non-Football Illness list) and WR Bryant Johnson(Active Non-Football Injury list) both did not practice today.  Here’s the report from Head Coach Jim Schwartz:

“All three are day to day. [Brandon] Pettigrew has a little thigh issue going and we are having him looked at this morning, but don’t anticipate it being anything more than day-to-day. [Eric] King has a little foot going, but again probably not going to be out here in the afternoon, but he is day-to-day. Casey [FitzSimmons] sort of got rolled up yesterday, got a little knee and a little ankle. He tried to come out, I don’t know if you guys saw him, Eric [King] and he both tried to come out and do it but they just weren’t able to. Both of them want to be back as quickly as they can and I don’t anticipate any of them being more than day-to-day.”

Denver Broncos Injury plagued Linebacker Jarvis Moss took the morning off to contemplate whether or not he wants to retire.   Head Coach Josh McDaniels after morning practice:

“It is a personal situation. We granted Jarvis permission to take the time to do what he needed to do. Again, I am not going to talk about that based on the personal situation and the personal matter that it is.”
Broncos Brandon Marshall, Brian Dawkins, Brandon Stokley, Wesley Woodyard and Correll Buckhalter all missed practice Monday due to various injuries.

New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush was held out of practice Monday morning after his surgically-repaired left knee became inflamed following Sunday’s two hour, 25 minute workout in pads. Via NOLA.com

The Chiefs worked out veteran wide receiver D.J. Hackett today. Glenn Dorsey failed Friday’s conditioning test and hasn’t participated in a practice yet Via  Red Zone

Philadelphai Eagles ML Stewart Bradley may miss the season with a torn ACL according to on air reports from  ESPN Radio 950 AM in Philadelphia torn ACL.

The Dallas  Cowboys continued working on kickoff during the special teams portion of practice, rookie kicker David Buehler continued to impress with his leg strength. For example, his first kickoff was caught at the goal line. Starting kicker Nick Folk’s first kick was caught at the 15. via Practice Report.

Arizona Cardinals receiver Early Doucet suffered a sprained left shoulder while making a diving grab of a pass thrown by Matt Leinart on Monday morning. The Cardinals said Doucet will undergo an MRI exam. via AZCentral.com

The Denver Broncos are close to signing 1st round pick Robert Ayers. The Denver Post reports via Denver Post

Chicago Bears defensive end Henry Melton said he likes to field kickoffs and promises to run one back if given the chance. Special teams coach Dave Toub said Melton might get a chance in the preseason. via  Huddle Up.

Oakland Raiders JaMarcus Russell and Bruce Gradkowski received the majority of the reps at quarterback in the full-team drills.

San Franciso 49ers

No movement on contract negotiations with Crabtree. The club and agent Eugene Parker seem to be at an impasse with 21 of the league’s 32 first-round draft picks signed. … DT Ricky Jean-Francois (staph infection), LB Parys Haralson (groin) and CB Tarell Brown (toe) did not practice Sunday. via 49ers training camp

Mike Singletary has yet to name either Alex Smith or Shuan Hill the starting QB ““It doesn’t matter where we are today. I want to find the guy who is going to lead this team. Right now, I’m not seeing that guy,” Singletary said last weekend.
