Now, the Giants are fighting back – in South America.
The team is mining Venezuela for votes on behalf of Pablo Sandoval, who again led the balloting Tuesday with two days to go. The Giants taped a video of Sandoval explaining what it would mean to represent his town and country at the All-Star Game and made it available to media sites throughout Venezuela.
Jim Moorehead, the Giants’ senior director of media relations, said four media outlets in Venezuela accessed the video in the first few hours it was available. The Giants also e-mailed an image of the “Vote Pablo” logo in Spanish to one newspaper, which plans to feature it in a full-page ad.
