Drew Brees with David Letterman

Feb 9th, 2010 | 8:47 am |

Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees made a stop by the Late Show with David Letterman Monday night, and Letterman like the rest of us, was wrapped up in the moment when Brees held his son after winning the game. Dave even showed us a new Sports Illustrated cover with Brees and his son Baylen on the cover. Brees said that he dreamed of the moment where he would stand up on the Super Bowl podium with his son long before Baylen was born. Baylen was born on Jan. 17, 2009, the same day as his day was in 1979.

Brees says that a focus for the Saints was to never look at the scoreboard, and they were down by 10 Sunday before coming back to beat the Colts 31-17.  Brees and even sends Letterman out for a pass to close out the segment.

Correction: We misidentified the year Brees’ son Baylen was born, we wrote it was 2008, but he was actually born in 2009. Thanks to reader Elana.
