Super Bowl LIX: That was Ugly

Published

on

Ok that was ugly.

The Chiefs never got into the groove. And I mean from the very first kick off, there was never an ounce of urgency until it was too late.

40-6 with 8:01 left to play in the game. The Eagles dominated the Chiefs, but it’s as though the Chiefs were never even there.

Patrick Mahomes looked conservative, tentative to start. He would be sacked six times including a pick-six with less than two minutes to go in the 1st quarter that would put the Eagles up 17-0. It was pretty much over at that moment.

We’re all human and there’s not doubting KC and Mahomes’s greatness. I didn’t hear much about the Kansas City offensive line prior to the game but they got dominated.

Overall a bit of an underwhelming Super Bowl but interesting for the fact that the two-time defenders were taken out by an Eagles team that was probably underrated by most. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts finished with 221 yards passing and 3 touchdown downs.

“I threw two interceptions in their end, I mean, I threw a pick six, and I threw a pick that they returned to the five-yard line, and they scored immediately after,” Mahomes said after the game. (Reuters).

“So, you give the team 14 points, especially a really good football team, a Super Bowl football team, and not a lot of good things happen.”

Well this is a shocker; Aaron Rodgers will not be back with the J-E-T-S

Published

Everything seemed so right. The Jet candy apple green. The aging quarterback who occasionally like to appears on National TV and occasionally say off the wall things.

The great Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported Sunday afternoon the bombshell of all bombshells: One 41-year old Mr. Aaron Rodgers will not be back with the New York Jets next season.

Shocker of all shockers.

As for Mr. Glazer you have to give the man credit for the use of “Big Scoopage” on his Tweet below. Especially on the day when so many will be scooping into the dip and salsa bowls.

Hopefully we can get another nine months of non-stop media speculation as to what Mr. Rodgers’ next move will be. Will he sign on with a team? Will he retire? This should be good enough for about 900 hours of First Take airtime.

Sunday’s Super Bowl could break all-time TV ratings yet again

Published

People are ready for Super Bowl LIX, a.k.a Super Bowl 59.

Most are expecting another recording setting TV and streaming audience for Sunday’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.

Between horrible weather and political drama, tragedies, people are ready for a diversion and to be entertained, there’s no doubt about it.

The Eagles will have all of Philly and half of New Jersey rooting for them, and it will go about 50/50 if people love or hate the Chiefs dynasty.

Pat Mahomes is fun. Saquon Barkley running through defenses is fun. It’s a pretty good matchup for the NFL.

There’s no doubt advertisers are expecting a large audience, as ad space for the event, notoriously off the charts, is even more off the charts. According to reports, FOX’s ad space is sold out. A 30-second ad was sold for over $8 million according to some reports, a new record.  Prior to the pandemic a 30-second Super Bowl ad would cost about $5 million.

Last year’s Super Bowl was the most watched in history with an average of 123 million viewers.

This year FOX will broadcast the game across broadcast television, and will stream it on the Tubi streaming platform. The NFL app will stream the game live if you sign up for the NFL+ subscription service.

Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady will call the game on FOX along with Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi on the sidelines.
