The Texas Rangers have a deal in place to acquire third basemen Mike Lowell from the Boston Red Sox, pending physicals and approval from the commissioners office, according to a report by MLB.com.
The Red Sox would receive minor league first baseman Max Ramirez. The Red Sox would also pay for a large portion of the remaining $12 million Lowell is owed in 2010. The move paves the way for the Red Sox to sign free agent third basemen Adrian Beltre. After Seattle signed Chone Figgins last week it became clear that Beltre would not return to Seattle in 2010.
